Michael Anastassiades and Flos celebrate 10 years of the IC collection with a numbered, signed special edition in 24-carat gold: a future collector's item! ‘’Inspired by ancient ornaments, which we admire for their cultural footprint, we chose a gold finish for this special edition, a symbol not of luxury, but of eternity,’’ explains Anastassiades.

A true timeless icon, IC is a refined and minimalist lamp with an Art Deco spirit. It consists of a blown glass sphere that balances on a slender metal frame with sharp angles. A sculptural and sophisticated construction of light that explores the notion of balance.

London-based Cypriot designer Michael Anastassiades explains: ‘’I came across a video of a juggler. He was spinning a set of balls, moving them around his arms and up to his fingertips. And as I was fascinated by the magic of his art, suddenly the balls seemed perfectly still to me. I wanted to capture that exact moment. That was my starting point.’’

The initials IC come from the codes the English police use in their reports to define the ethnicity of people they stop in the street: IC1 for a North European type, IC2 for a Hispanic type, IC3 for an Afro-Caribbean type... It’s a playful way of defining the different models in this collection.

Michael Anastassiades: ‘’In terms of design, it’s probably familiarity that has formed the basis of the IC collection’s success. There is nothing more recognizable than a sphere and a straight line. Since its launch, the IC collection has been perceived as an archetype. A design that is difficult to associate with any particular era. A lamp that exists today, but which we know will retain its contemporary character tomorrow and forever. After all, spheres have always existed, the concept of balance piques our curiosity. ‘’

This model is characterized by its sphere with an impressive 45 cm diameter, which adds a touch of surrealism to the lightness of the design.
