The AAS 38 places the series' shell on a bent steel frame, maintaining the collection's profile. Two seat heights: 65 cm for a worktop, 75 cm for a bar.

The base is a sledge: a bent steel tube that rests on the floor via two glides rather than four legs, with the lower crossbar serving as a footrest. The design is more industrial than the wooden models: HAY refers to it as having "a more industrial expression."

Recycled polypropylene, and what HAY calls the "2.0" shell

The seat and backrest form a single injection-molded shell. The material is polypropylene made from post-consumer plastic waste: this is what HAY designates as "2.0" in its color names. The material is dyed throughout: a scratch will not reveal a different color underneath, and maintenance is limited to soapy water. On lighter shades, slight variations in hue are inherent to the recycled material.
