About A Stool AAS 32 bar stool by Hee Welling

The AAS 32 retains the silhouette of the About A series—curved backrest, rounded seat—and places it on four tapered wooden legs. HAY describes it as sharing "the same versatile profile" as the rest of the collection. Two seat heights: 65 cm for a worktop or kitchen island, 75 cm for a bar.

The base is made of four legs in water-based lacquered oak veneer: HAY explicitly notes water-based lacquered oak veneer on its product sheets. Two finishes: natural oak, or black-stained oak. The footrest is a steel ring, powder-coated black or in stainless steel.

Recycled polypropylene, and what HAY calls the "2.0" shell

The seat and backrest form a single injection-molded shell. The material is a polypropylene derived from post-consumer plastic waste: this is what HAY refers to as "2.0" in the name of its colors. The material is mass-dyed: a scratch does not reveal another color underneath, and maintenance is limited to soapy water. On light colors, slight variations in shade are inherent to the recycled material.
