The Arco floor lamp, designed by the Castiglioni brothers in 1962, is a staple of Italian design. Built to last, this model celebrates its 50th anniversary with an LED upgrade, offering exceptional light quality, low energy consumption, and a long lifespan. It is equipped with an 18W 2700K LED source, producing a warm white light, and features an intensity dimmer.

This floor lamp is distinguished by its white Carrara marble base, topped with an impressively sized stainless steel arc, amazingly blending tradition and modernity.

Le designer

Achille et Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

Pier Giacomo (1913-1968) et Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) sont deux frères architectes milanais. Après la guerre, Achille rejoint le studio que Pier Giacomo avait ouvert avec leur frère Livio ; à partir de 1952, les deux cadets travaillent en tandem jusqu'à la mort de Pier Giacomo, en 1968, sans jamais attribuer leurs projets à l'un ou à l'autre. Leur méthode consiste souvent à détourner un objet existant, un siège de tracteur, une selle de vélo, un phare de voiture, pour en faire un meuble ou une lampe. On leur doit chez Flos le lustre Taraxacum (1960), les lampadaires Arco et Toio (1962), et chez Zanotta les tabourets Mezzadro et Sella (1957).

La maison

Flos

Flos est fondée en 1962 à Merano par Dino Gavina et Cesare Cassina, avec Arturo Eisenkeil, qui importe des États-Unis une résine plastique projetée, le « cocoon ». Son nom, du latin « fleur », est choisi par Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Dès 1962, Achille et Pier Giacomo Castiglioni dessinent pour la maison le lampadaire Arco, la lampe Taccia et le lampadaire Toio, avant que Tobia et Afra Scarpa ne rejoignent l'aventure. À partir de 1963, Sergio Gandini dirige l'entreprise, installée à Brescia.
