MAgriTTA is a sculptural armchair designed in 1970 by Roberto Sebastián Matta and produced by Gufram, as a tribute to Surrealism. It brings together two recurring motifs from the work of René Magritte, the black bowler hat and the green apple, and turns this absurd combination into a perfectly functional seat.

The armchair is handcrafted from soft polyurethane foam and upholstered in an elastic wool bouclé fabric. It measures 92 cm wide, 84 cm deep, and 64 cm high. To the original deep black and green version, Gufram has added MAgriTTA Red and MAgriTTA Yellow.

Le designer

Sebastien Matta
