Description

This is the dining version of the Palissade armchair: twelve centimetres wider and ten centimetres deeper, creating a seat where you can enjoy an entire dinner rather than just a coffee. The design remains the same: the same tubular steel frame, the same flat slats spaced out on the seat and backrest, and the same armrests formed as a continuation of the tube. The spacing between the slats allows water to drain and air to circulate: a rain shower won't leave a puddle on the seat. It is available in powder-coated steel, where the oven-baked powder paint forms a hard layer, and in hot-dip galvanized steel, dipped in a bath of molten zinc: an unpainted finish that patinates over time and is more resistant to sea spray. With a width of 63 cm, allow for a table of at least 170 cm to fit three side-by-side.

Le designer

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec

Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec sont deux frères designers installés à Paris, originaires de Bretagne. Ils travaillent ensemble depuis 1998 : Ronan est diplômé de l'École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs de Paris, Erwan de l'École nationale supérieure d'arts de Cergy-Pontoise, avant qu'ils n'ouvrent leur propre studio. Pour HAY, ils ont dessiné les collections Palissade, Balcony, CPH, Can et Passerelle, la chaise Élémentaire et le Pier System.

Hay

HAY est un éditeur de design danois fondé à Copenhague en 2002 par Rolf et Mette Hay. Les deux fondateurs en assurent toujours la direction artistique, Rolf pour le mobilier, Mette pour les accessoires. La maison travaille avec des designers contemporains comme Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec, auteurs de la collection d'extérieur Palissade, Stefan Diez, Hee Welling, créateur de la série About A Chair, ou Louise Campbell, dont la Prince Chair de 2002 est entrée au MoMA. Depuis 2019, l'américain Herman Miller, aujourd'hui MillerKnoll, en est l'actionnaire majoritaire.
