Throw-Away is a sofa designed by Willie Landels in 1965. It is a piece of history: the first sofa made entirely of expanded polyurethane, **without any frame**: hence its name, "disposable," which at the time was as much a provocation as a promise of lightness. It received the gold medal at the M.I.A. international exhibition in 1970 and the Interior Innovation Award in Cologne in 2003, and is included in the collections of the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne, the Thessaloniki Design Museum, and Die Neue Sammlung in Munich. Two versions: removable cover, with an inseparable interior nylon lining, or non-removable cover. Two sizes, 150 and 205 cm, with a depth of 75 cm. The specific color is selected on our Fabrics and materials page and confirmed with us before production begins.
What determines the price
The size and the category of the upholstery. Category 20, 30, and 40 fabrics and 95, 98, and 99 leathers are detailed on our Fabrics and materials page; customer-supplied fabric is accepted at the category 20 price.
The removable cover version costs a little more: it adds an interior nylon fabric lining under the removable cover.
Other items in the range
